2012/2013 Confirmation Program Schedule

Our confirmation curriculum is based on the faith questions of our students.  We also read and study the entire book of Luke and learn important theological terms and concepts throughout the year.  There are fourteen classes on Tuesdays from 6 to 7:15 pm.  We also have a special opening and closing retreat.  Please speak to the church office, 248-375-0400, if you wish to sign up a child for this year's class.

September 28-29—Opening retreat, Kirk In the Hills

October 9—Luke 4—Was God actually a human being at some point in time?  Are Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit the same thing?  Words of the week:  Trinity

October 30—Luke 5— How did the world start? Words of the week:  theology

November 10—class serves at soup kitchen, 10am-2pm

November 20—Luke 6— What would it mean to accept the ways of evil?  How do you know that you are committing a sin?  Why do people make stupid decisions?  Words of the week:  discipleship

November 27—Luke 7— What will happen to people who have a religion other than Christianity?  Words of the week:  Advent

December 4—Luke 8-9— How many times will the Lord forgive you for sinning?  What if you don’t repent? Words of the week:  grace

December 18—Luke 10— Who is Pontius Pilate?  Why did Jesus go to hell?  Did he really rise again?  Words of the week:  resurrection

January 8—Luke 11-12—

January 29--Luke 13-14— How would someone show God’s love?  Why don’t I get a sense of happiness when I help people?  Words of the week:  incarnation

 

February 5—Luke 15—What happens when you die?  Words of the week:  eschatology

February 12—Luke 16-17— People say they know God is talking to them.  How do we know?  Words of the week:  Gospel

 

March 12—Luke 18— Is the Bible exaggerating some things?  Words of the week:  inerrancy

March 19—Luke 19— Why is Jesus our Savior?  Why would he want to die for us?  Are babies evil before they are baptized?  Words of the week:  atonement
