Where and when will we be going?
- We will be working with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance in Mission, Texas, Southern tip of Texas
- Five hour flight on Delta, June 16-June 23 2012
What will we be doing?
- Construction projects for hurricane response and low income families.
- For those who are interested in service projects and working with families: working with organizations like Su Casa De Esperanza and The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley
- Visiting the Presbyterian Church Border Ministry to learn about ministries on the US-Mexico border (remaining in Texas)
- Visiting the beach and the Sea Turtle Sanctuary at South Padre Island
Why will this trip rock?
- Opportunity to use Spanish skills or learn a few words!
- Learning about a different culture
- Seeing the beauty of God’s creation
- Deepening your relationship with God and your youth group
- Serving people in need

How do I sign up?
- Fill out this application and return with $100 deposit, payment in full of $400, or scholarship request, by January 1, 2012
- Space is limited to 18 students so sign up early!

Middle School Chicago Dive 2012
This year YOU have an opportunity to put your faith into action, help out and have fun in Chicago at Second Presbyterian Church! Second Church is a wonderful multi-cultural Presbyterian church and Rev. Marianne Grano used to be their student minister. In 2009 we completed several painting and cleaning projects. This year we would like to do more work on the nursery and Sunday school rooms as well as help with their homeless meals program. Our goal is 25 students on this trip and we know we can do it! The church is located in an area of Chicago with some people
This would bring so much hope to this small yet faithful congregation.
July 2012: Car wash fundraiser
July 8, 10am: Commissioning in worship and collection of supplies from the congregation
July 8, 11am: Student and parent preparation meeting and lunch
Supplies for Nursery and Sunday School project:
· New soft plastic/rubber blocks
· New pop-up play castle/house
· New dollhouse for toddler age
· New baby doll and accessories
· New washable crayons and paper
· New art and craft supplies (any)
· Any new baby and toddler toys
· Money for two new rugs, a rocking chair/glider, paint, and new tables and chairs
Supplies will be collected and presented July 8.
Trip Cost
$150 per student plus plan on participating in 2 small fundraisers for paint and supplies
Scholarships are available, just indicate in your application. We want every one to come!
We’ll also take you to see the sights of Chicago!
Trip Schedule
Monday, July 9: Meet at the church at 4pm. Travel to Knox Presbyterian Church in Naperville, Illinois.
Tuesday, July 10: Work at Second Church during the day. Evening trip Shedd Aquarium.
Wednesday, July 11: Work at Second Church during the day. Evening dinner with members of Second Church and trip to Chinatown.
Thursday, July 12: Rides and fun at Navy Pier amusement park! Drive home. Arrive at UPC at 5:30pm.
We will be staying at a Knox Presbyterian Church in the suburb of Naperville, Illinois. The church hosted us in 2009 and has excellent facilities.
