ABOUT US

University Presbyterian Church is an inclusive congregation. In faithfulness to Jesus and the commandments to love God and to love our neighbors as ourselves, we embrace and respect all people–every sexual orientation, gender identity, age, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic condition, all refugees and immigrants, those of all physical and mental abilities, all household compositions, those of diverse political and theological backgrounds and beliefs–and we invite those who desire to participate equally and fully in the life, ministry, fellowship, worship, leadership, responsibilities, and blessings of our church family to join us.

Whoever you are, wherever you are on life’s journey, as God’s beloved, you are worthy and welcome!

Members of University Presbyterian Church have different perspectives, however, we are united in our faith and our commitment to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.  We know, as Jesus insists in the gospels, that we must feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the prisoner, care for the sick, and welcome the stranger.  We also know, from Jesus’s acceptance and forgiveness of the Samaritan woman, from his acceptance of the Roman centurion’s faith, from Philip’s baptism of the Ethiopian eunuch, and from other stories in scripture, that the prophet who began speaking to fellow Jews ended up knowing his messianic mission to be Savior of the World and all of its peoples.  Therefore, we believe in fairness and equity in treatment of every person and dedicate ourselves to help eliminate all forms of racial injustice.

Together we are a family of faith, serving God with open minds, loving hearts and willing hands. Our vision is to: deepen spirituality, embrace community and proclaim goodness.
